i actually am typing this draft here in the plane since i cannot sleep and i do not have anything else better to do.
today is wednesday, 16 december 2009. this is my first business class flight. ironically, deep inside i wished i could erase this part from my memory. the plane had just left KLIA thirty minutes ago, and will be reaching kota kinabalu in two hours time. the fastened seat belt sign had just turned off and being in the business class, i did not realise that we can actually pick our choice of dinner, as well as our drinks. i chose hot green tea because i was too shy to ask for ribena hahahahahahahahaha and the man at the aisle seat next to me had chosen Heineken.
i was supposed to go home on thursday, but because life is always unpredictable, there are way too many things that are beyond our control. looking back, sometimes it surprises me that i have not got heart attack yet. never have i thought my after-exam shopping plan was being replaced by a flight to kk tonight, and likewise never have i thought my long-awaited break begins with a funeral. i think the ugly black pen marks on both my left and right hands are the only evidence sufficient enough to convince myself that i really finished my exam, and that i really am away from kl already.
i just finished my 2 course dinner/supper. business class is quite awesome. apart from being stuffed with all kinds of food which is slightly yummier than economy class throughout the two and a half hour-journey, the seats are spacious and comfortable. i can curl up in my favourite position, with the provided pillow comfortably while laying my head on the armrest. the stewardess with the nice hair bun was thoughtful and caring too. she thought i felt cold and immediately unfold a blanket in front of me, and placed it up to my neck. i think i somewhat caught a glimpse of how rich people defines travelling.
i am sitting beside a man at his fifties who is a lecturer in one of the local universities. before he fell asleep, he told me that he just got back from a sponsored trip to Laos for the SEA games. according to him, malaysia's performance was good. i told him that i rarely watch sport games and i assumed this conversation will end with my usual cold response towards strangers. however, he did not kept quiet like how other people usually did. instead, he took out his camera and showed me the pictures he have taken. "laos is still very under-developed." he said thailand is just opposite the nice-looking resort that he was staying, and it is the mekong river that seperated these two countries. oh, mekong river, such a familiar term when i was still in junior 2 or 3 studying the boring geography. after showing his 200++ pics, he proceeded to talk about his wife, his job as an economics lecturer, his travel stories and the 2 cows he bought for last week's hari raya raji which cost rm2400 per cow. i was super shocked to learn that nowadays cows are so expensive.
i guess this is my first time to have talked so much to the stranger who sat beside me. and oh, i'm landing soon. how i wish i could inject some courage into my veins.
thumbs up.
