this post was drafted on 12th feb 2011. but i can't remember why it wasn't being published. since i've written it, might as well publish it now right?
is this year's chinese new year quieter compared to previous years', or it's just me? could it be because a lot of friends were not around? or could it be because i left tawau a bit too early (on day 3)? i didn't even see any lion dance in tawau, even though i kept hearing the beat of chinese drums and cymbals. i just felt things are not as excited as they used to be.
also, i'm a little sad when they changed the schedule and decided not to come to my house on day 2 and since i'm leaving on the next night, i just have to accept that they are not going to make it this year. but in the end, a few of them came to my house few hours before my 9pm flight (thank you for comingggggg and thanks for appreciating the marshmallows and the little orange fish kerepok that i purposely bought for you guys for chinese new year). i still remember how i frantically packed everything in less than half n hour after they left, showered, and rushed to the airport. that aside, i'm still happy that i get to catch up with a lot of old friends (there isn't anything much to do except talking, if you don't gamble).
this year's chinese new year is likewise a little different.
first, it is different because it's rabbit year, duh. i'm a rabbit. :) but damn, that was fast! i'm at the 2nd cycle of rabbit year of my life wtf. secondly, going back for chinese new year this year was not easy, at least for me. parents weren't happy that i didn't book my tickets until december. i can understand why they weren't happy, because the tickets cost a bomb!!! and the most ironic part? i checked on the airasia website and found that flying to seoul is even cheaper than flying back to tawau on the dates i'm travelling. wtf. how is this fair? but because of the chinese in me that makes me love chinese new year so much, i told my parents that i'm gonna pay for the tickets myself to end the argument. and i regretted. because all the excessive travelling had used up all my savings. and i was still unemployed bla bla bla. the problem was solved in the end, with some help from the boyfriend (thank youuuuu <3) and i finally booked my RM700 ticket the day before i flew off to shanghai.
so yea, i'm still glad that i was home for chinese new year, even though it will take me some time before i could clear off all my debts. >_< and yes, lesson learnt, i will buy my chinese new year tickets earlier in the future. for sure!
